Position Type: Full Time
Location: Montreal, Canada

Ojibwe is a web startup based in Montreal, founded by one of Canada’s leading technology entrepreneurs. We intend to build a web-based community site that will touch the lives of millions of people around the world. We are looking for passionate team members who believe in the power of the Internet and community to create global change. Currently, we are looking for a talented Web Service Developer to join a small team of accomplished software engineers.

Working as part of a small, seasoned team your primary responsibilities will be to:

• Participate in product design and rapid prototype development.
• Design and implement new features.
• Work hands-on in the development of web applications (HTML/Javascript/AJAX)
• Develop reusable toolkits to aid in future product prototyping work.

Skills and Experience:
• Advanced experience with HTML, Javascript, CSS, and XML.
• 3+ yrs. experience in web development, preferably community portals or large scale web applications
• Experience with a web development platform (LAMP, Zope, ASP .NET, etc.).
• Experience with HTML templating languages.
• Experience with Flash, AJAX toolkits, Laszlo or other rich application interface techniques.
• Fluency in one or more general-purpose interpreted languages (Python preferred, DJANGO experience an asset).
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Computer Science, HCI, or a related area.
• A passion for online communities, user generated content and rich internet applications.
• Fast learner with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Understanding of agile development methodologies (SCRUM, eXtreme Programming).
• Exceptionally well-spoken and articulate.
• Able to convey approach clearly and simply from both a technical & business perspective.

Senior Web Application Interaction Designer

Job Description: Senior Web Application Interaction Designer
Position Type: Full Time
Location: Montreal, Canada

Ojibwe is a web startup based in Montreal, founded by one of Canada’s leading technology entrepreneurs. We intend to build a web-based community site that will touch the lives of millions of people around the world. We are looking for passionate team members who believe in the power of the Internet and community to create global change. Currently, we are looking for a talented Senior Web Appliction Interaction Designer to join a small, experienced team of software developers. Your primary responsibilities will be to define our user experience strategy, participate in a user-centric design process and conceive a compelling website experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in product design and rapid prototype development.
• Identify UI requirements, define project approach, scope, and user experience.
• Create and be accountable for the user interaction model and workflow by contributing schematics, prototypes, and interface guidelines.
• Collaborate with visual designers to refine the interactive experience.
• Refine an user interaction model based on feedback from an online community.

REQUIREMENTS:
• • A bachelor’s degree or better in Human Factors, HCI, industrial design or a related area.
• 3+ years of experience as a key member of an UI team participating in at least one complete product development lifecycle for a successfully launched web application.
• Process driven, able to demonstrate interaction design skills, and have a solid understanding of user-centric design principles.
• Communicate clearly and effectively, are able to think analytically, and have experience communicating with all members of an engineering and design team.
• Organized and able to act independently.
• Solid understanding of website design with a working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• A passion for online communities, user generated content and rich internet applications.
• Fast learner with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
