Aptana has changed the way I develop applications. I totally love all the features so far. I am already seeing this tool a few versions from now! Oh, and the references on the support section, very handy.

One thing though, just don't get bought up by one of those complicated companies...

Really interesting, but something’s still so far from JSEclipse features.
Just one example: the Code Assist doesn’t yet seems to assist you at all for DOM methods, that’s likely what you 90% of the times ask from the Code Completion feature of your IDE.

Aptana is the best IDE this time for JavaScript. I’ve tested a lot from 1st JavaScript Editor, JsEclipse, Intelli Idea… I miss only a debugger but as I saw this is planned for one of the next milestones.

Very good work!

one more, this makes us continually uses dreamweaver and like intellij, is the css color palette. it would be better if this would be added for css support :-)

Guys, I really, really like Aptana. I hope you will finish this guys and released sooner. I am creating an open-source softwares integration now with ajax support such as jquery, scriptaculous and im not that advance on that field. But with the help of Aptana i can develop ajax applications faster. I like your smart completion lookup as values for the attributes, intelligent almost the same as intellij. I hope css is allowed to be dropped not only with js and html.

But honestly, all the community will crave for your Aptana IDE. This will be the next number one Web ajax ide.

Thanks for this GUYS.

It's the best editor I have ever used. Even though it is built upon Eclipse which is famous for not being that fastest application around.

But else than that: Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!

aptana is really really good but i think they should've nailed down code coloring #1. that's perhaps the most basic way programmers make any heads or tails out of code... and i feel aptana's code coloring is limited...it needs better support for php code coloring. the code complete isn't a big deal but the coloring is. it need some work to beat dreamweaver in my mind but it should do it. i just wish it had some of the basics covered to start with...i'd love it but i'm on the fence now between DW and Aptana because Aptana went for the really complex javascript and html code assist stuff first before the basics... it will not automatically switch color code when it runs into a block as DW does...that's just silly to have one color set based on the file name...we don't develop applications like that anymore. Web applications often use css/xhtml/javascript/php all in one file now.

Because the deadline comes nearer and Dreamweaver is a pain in the ass with JavaScript and some hundred lines of code, I've tested some JavaScript IDEs...

This is realy great . But I wanted a code indenter for my garbage code. I cannot find it there. I think anyone can build a code indenter, there is a action creater to do this kind of jobs. I believe someone will successfully implement the indenter.

I'm running it on Gentoo, Eclipse seems to be a lot faster on Linux (especially on Gentoo) than on Windows. It has already become my main IDE for Web stuff, altough it's a bit buggy. What I really miss, is support for php. I don't really need code completion, but syntax coloring is a must, otherwise it gets pretty messy. But they said they'd add support for php, asp and more in an upcoming release. This will definetely be hot!

Great looking IDE, and it reminds me a lot of Visual Studio. Not for the slow computer'd though. Im on an ancient machine at work and get a good 2 min wait before I'm actually able to use it again. If you have a decent computer or dont mind the wait, you should definitly check this out.

Wow!! This is an impressive bit of kit. I am just starting to work with MochiKit for a project at work and Visual Studio is pants at giving me decent realtime feedback on my javascript (though pretty reasonable at debugging at runtime). Downloading and running this has just saved me around 2 hours already. Well worth a look.
