BentGear: Ajax based one-page checkout

Category: Showcase

Varien has written about, and published a screencast on their ajax based one-page checkout.

We’ve touted the benefits of a one-page checkout before, but for all you visual learners we have recorded a screencast of the one page checkout process. This New York Times article from last year (Registration required) found that for and, “Fifty percent more customers completed the one-page checkout process than finished the multipage process.”

There is little innovation here. No cart editing, validation is REALLY poor, users must scroll to see an effect on cart totals, and popups and loading windows…come on. Good try, bad implementation.

I agree with Jason. I don’t see much here except the loading screen, but to show a loading div is hardly AJAX and definitely not revolutionary.

However the info on completed orders is interesting.
