Because if you’re going to use a plugin then there are a bazillion actually world-class 3D engines available, notably in flash.

Well, I understand, that Canvas 3D won’t be the next big thing until at least one of the modern browser engines (Webkit, Gecko, Presto) supports it natively, but I don’t understand the general refusal to try out the future possibilities in form of a plugin.

Canvas 3D is only available as a plugin for Firefox…
Is there any info when it will be a native part of Webkit and Gecko?

As long has these type of library require the user to download an add-on for his browser, I doubt they’ll catch up… especially in this case, where it’s unnecessary if you go through the maths required to make it work in straight JS.
