Example: Live Preview

Category: Examples, JavaScript, Usability

Jonathan Snook has re-thunk the old chesnut: Weblog comments. He has implemented a Live Preview option which uses the Yellow Fade Technique, and has a nice clean UI.

A nice simple example, that also failsback gracefully.

Interesting approach, but I’m just concerned that people will stop reading all the comments that have already been posted. Personally, I prefer the comment box all the way on the bottom of the page. You should really be commenting on the entire blog entry, including the previous comments and all.

Only time will tell whether it’ll stop people from reading the comments and create a disjointed discourse. The reason I put in the fixed commenting is as a result of a frustration of mine when commenting on other sites. I often found myself scrolling back and forth between re-reading parts of the post or comment that I wanted to talk about and the editing the comment. The fixed commenting allows me to do both in the same place.
