Orientation: I really feel this is a feature that needs to be able to be easily disabled with a gesture. I too often find myself frustrated by lieing down with my iPhone for a minute and my web page going on it's side.

Maybe something like holding two fingers down as you rotate to "hold in place" or some such. One of my biggest iPhone gripes after a year.

One of my favourite phone UI features I've come across lately is the Mobile Firefox (Fennec) interface, where you swipe the screen in a certain direction to pull the toolbars of the corresponding edge into view. I think it's beautifully easy to get used to and remember. The way all UI should be.

Nice post Dion.

I have to say that I'm not a developer of mobile apps.
But I can think of the following concerning the landscape:
Wouldn't it be handy if the landscape showed the settings section of your app (or maybe another view that is logically separated from your main app) per default (of course allowing the user to change this behaviour if he really likes to view your app in landscape)?
