Saturday, March 11th, 2006 – Web UI Engineer

HedgeStreet, Inc. (, an innovative start-up in the financial sector, has an opening for a Web UI Engineer. HedgeStreet is a new electronic marketplace that empowers online investors to trade innovative financial contracts based on economic events and price movements. The Web UI Engineer will be responsible for design and development of the various web-based interfaces to our marketplace. The ideal candidate will not only possess very solid fundamental web development and programming skills, but will also be able to mix creativity in UI design with software engineering and project management principles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering and marketing teams to create and enhance complex financial application user interfaces from conception to production
  • Design and implement features and prototypes based on user requirements, usability studies, and business needs as well as make recommendations for new features and upgrades to the existing site
  • Create and oversee a project life cycle, schedule, maintain documentation, processes, and best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Extensive experience with X/HTML, CSS, DHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, XMLHttp, and DOM API
  • A strong working knowledge developing cross-browser (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.) dynamic web applications
  • Experience with revision control systems such as CVS or Perforce.
  • Experience working in cross-platform environments such as Windows and Linux.
  • Understanding of current the technologies and best practices that comprise a web project development cycle.
  • Proven project management skills including strong planning and tracking abilities, close attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and an ability to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines and budgets with the highest of quality
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team with technical and non-technical teams alike
  • Strong customer centric focus
  • Be able to work simultaneously on multiple tasks while dealing with changing priority and criticality.
  • Excellent communications skills including the ability to write functional requirements and operating documentation.
  • Experience creating Flash presentations is a strong plus.
  • Financial web application development experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree three to five years or more of relevant experience designing, building, and maintaining Web sites.

You do NOT want to work for this company as they will not be in business for long. They don’t freeze funds for outstanding orders, the markets are illiquid and the fees are outrageous.
