Helmi Technologies releases Open Source Java Ajax Platform
<p>Helmi Technologies launched “its beta Open Source RIA Platform for creating enterprise-class AJAX RIAs”.The platform is in the style of “you will not need to learn JavaScript”. Instead, Java developers stay in Java land, put their hands over their ears and shout LA LA LA LA.
The Helmi Open Source RIA Platform allows Java developers to become AJAX experts without needing to learn Javascript, DTHML or exotic variants of XML. By standardizing the user interface development, Helmi also makes it possible for developers to reuse components across applications. This has the added benefit of allowing client- and sever-side engineers to communicate effectively as they work independently. These capabilities enable companies to cut development time by over 50 percent, while creating a fast, compelling and interactive site that users want.
The Helmi Open Source RIA Platform provides a superior Client Framework, Virtual Browser, Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and J2EE-based AJAX Server Connect for creating Ajax RIAs. The Platform enables developers to rapidly create powerful web-based applications by leveraging existing development skills and environments, such as Eclipse and J2EE.
Helmi is adopting an open source model to shorten customer learning curves and more quickly enhance the Platform to the benefit of the open source community. In addition, open source platforms are cost efficient, because they free companies from dependence on often costly, proprietary solutions.

what? first open source Ajax platform? what happened to the other 130 Ajax open source products that have been available for a few years?
Great ! I did not see any demo page the web-site .
Did I miss something ?
Thx-Claude
Source is readable does not mean that it is Open Source.
It would have been nice to have some examples and some demo code. At least we could have made our own picture of it and not have to trust this announcement.
Just downloaded the thing. There are only few simple javascript widgets (button, checkbox and few others) in the distro. IDE is not downloadable as of now. Nothing for Java developers – I mean not a single class. Totally disappointing.
Did Dion even take a look of it?
[...] Helmi Technologies releases Open Source Java Ajax Platform From the vague descriptions offered on the web site, the Helmi Open Source RIA Platform is a similar solution to Google Web Toolkit (write AJAX apps in Java), except it is open source. Hi all, I am the VP Technology here at Helmi. A little mix-up on the press release front. What R Bayer is referencing is actually an early draft of the press release, posted by mistake, which should have long since been recycled into fragments of free disk space. Take a look at the above link now for the real release.
Also, a few words about what we have recently put into the open source domain, and what we have committed to put in over time. In the interest of getting code into the community’s hands sooner rather than later, we have released a basic form of our client framework, some documentation, and a simple demo. This was done to provide access to Helmi’s Virtual Browser and AJAX Component Framework technology, but is only an early glimpse at the overall direction.
i love how all these java frameworks make a big deal about being an ‘open source platform’ when they only run on the clsoed source SUN JDK..
I can’t hear you
