Instacomment: Add comments to your site
Instacomment allows you to embed a link to a PHP script and some JavaScript to embed a comment system anywhere on your site.
The comment widget starts as a chicklet:
and when clicked on opens up into a comment view:
If you are looking to add a comment system to something that doesn’t bundle comments already, this is a simple solution.

I don’t like chicklets per-say, unless it’s the purple ones that taste like soap. Lets just call it a button, mkay? ;)
The Site looks um… very unpolished.
The idea is right. It looks like you can use it to add commenting to any page without needing any of your own code to handle comments. Kinda of a neat idea. The logo is great, rest of the page could use some work.
I like the idea. I think the comment box that pops up could benefit from being made draggable and resizable.
nice idea and works good but I’d rather be in control of the comments that are posted.

I’m like the rest, it’s a good idea but why wouldn’t I just do it myself? In fact, I may. I currently have a guestbook and a forum for my site, but they get little use because there are other forums that better serve the target audience. But with this kind of commenting system I could probably get a lot more feedback and get it where I want it.
So basically, this Instacomment thing just makes me think “Why didn’t I think of that?!” and motivates me to create my own system, because there’s nothing in the Javascript or the php that hasn’t already been done.

I guess the only problem with the feature is that it doesn’t work if someone goes to your website without using the ‘www.’ prefix, so you have to set your server (if possible) to default to http://www.yourdomain.com.
that’s a common web browser security issue, www and non-www are different sub-domains.
