JavaScript has staying power; Used in Stargate
<>p>
This one is geeky. Someone watched the Stargate episode below and found JavaScript used in the console (above).
Interesting to see that JS1 is used in the future ;)

Um, Stargate isn’t set in the future. It’s supposed to be a secret government program set in the present. Pfft, I can’t believe you didn’t know that…
… Where’s the damn Ajaxianified effect for mock geek smugness?
The first url seen in that code is http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/oec/avatar/estatements/welcome_00.html
And the second one: http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/oec/avatar/html/01_PB/1_flash_paybill.htm
eeek! global variables!
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, this is the funniest post i’ve read!! More of such thinks please!
lol. that opens a popup window in the middle of the screen. i can only a assume that must be similar to opening a stargate.
Funny, we can also see some line of JS code in the movie “Hitman”. When he turn on his computer we can see the source code of Sarissa (the same on google code).
I just guessed they used simple code like html and javascript in movies and tv such as Stargate, Hitman, AntiTrust, Dark Angel because they’re more recognisable as code to more people… letting the viewers feel that little more smart and the movie/show seem more believable.
The code is located on http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/oec/, lines 20 to 39.
It’s a wonder that there isn’t a store of aimless stock code for use in TV and films… hmmm… Business idea!
See?! The Replicators didn’t even need classes in JS to program themselves and they are badass mofos!!1!!1!
more, the guy said the program was huge, and would take weeks to go through.. hahaha I wonder if the program was written in Javascript 2…
I’m sure the lady would go into menopause first…
ps: joking
The aliens are trying to open a new browser window a synchronize it with our screen size…..bloody bastards!!
Excerpt from the Royal Bank website legal terms of use…
“The Information is protected under the copyright laws of Canada and other countries. Unless otherwise specified, no one has permission to copy, redistribute, reproduce, republish, store in any medium, re-transmit, modify or make public or commercial use of, in any form, the Information.”
What are the chances Stargate asked for permission to use the code for ‘commercial use’?
This was from the TheDailyWTF:

Wow, and we though XSS Injection was a security vulnerability. In the future, h4ckers actually inject evil robot bugs into your lair via XSS.
Whow, I love both Stargate and JavaScript, but NEVER expected to see them mashed up…. I’m having a brain freeze. Ouch that hurts.

Bah! I saw C# (i.e. “System.Net.Socket”) used in the one where they accidentally infected the gate network with a homegrown virus and they had to write a fix.
