Max Kiesler’s List of Web 2.0/Ajax Widgets
Max Kiesler has a new post on his blog that lists out some of the downloadable Web 2.0 and Ajax “widgets” that he’s found. They’re ones he’s used and checked to be “understandable by the average designer or developer”.
It seems as though ever other day a new web 2.0 or AJAX widget comes to the attention of del.icio.us or Google. Many user interface elements lend themselves to being “ajaxified”. Calendars, image galleries, contact forms and auto-complete search functions are currently very popular. The problem is how to find working and downloadable examples. This post is an attempt to provide a list of the current best of the best web 2.0 and AJAX widgets that can be downloaded and integrated into your website.
Among those on the list are things like:
- Zen Photo - a photo gallery that supports uploads, comments, and themes
- The Zapatec AJAX Forms - forms that provide feedback, validation, and error handling
- Ajax Suggest box for HTML Forms - a tutorial for the creation of a “Google Suggest” input box
- AJAX Slideshow - a simple slideshow app that can resize and includes transitions
- Make an AJAX Website in Less than 10 Minutes - a tutorial that’s a “quick and dirty” intro to working with Ajax.
There are tons more posted here, seperated out into various categories (ex. “Ajax Surveys”, “Ajax Calendars”, “Ajax Login Systems”), so be sure to check them all out - there might be one that’s just what you need!
