When I'm working on a DB-driven website, the first few iterations when creating the layout usually come as static-HTML files. Once those look all fine and well, is when I start to rip them apart to be used as a template. This tool would be great for getting things looking nicely in all the browsers before I start having to worry about getting it into the appropriate format for templates.

Seriously, Dion Almaer can you give me some ideas about this? It would be very useful in our office, and I would like to know if this is like browsershots or anything else.

Thanks.

This seems more geared toward designers than developers (which is my view of Dreamweaver as well).

For thorough use case testing of DB-driven web applications, this doesn't seem at all helpful. Selenium RC has come the closest to offering the ability to write a use case test once in PHP, Java, etc and then test it in multiple browsers by steering the test to the appropriate Virtual Machine(s).

Trying to make Selenium RC work with SSL is a huge pain. Also, my current tests only work with FF2 (not FF3, IE, Safari or Opera). Still, I see the work being done on the selenium project as far more useful than this. For a lot of companies (mine included), sending sensitive application data out to a third-party server farm for rendering isn't an option. I'm fairly certain Selenium RC will end up being *the* option for cross-browser testing, once they get the SSL issues worked out and improve the support for the tier 2 browsers.

I have two question about this new service, is it rendering the webs server-side and showing the result to the client as a normal page (HTML+more) or just make screenshots like the old browsershots.org?

If this tool show me the page as html and i can debug that live... i would love it :D

@Ramon-
That's the point. If it's rendered server side, then you don't have to worry about having all these browsers on your system. Especially since it's impossible to run IE6, 7, and 8 without a virtual machine (or IETester, which still isn't 100% accurate).

This shouldn't be processed in server-side. I think the conception is wrong, this should be done in an Applet, so the user can render himself.
