OpenKM: Ajax Document Management System
Paco Avila and his team have announced OpenKM, a document management / knowledge management system that looks like a desktop application.
OpenKM is based on:
- JBoss 4.0.3SP1 ( version basis for the development )
- Java J2EE ( JDK 1.5 )
- Jackrabbit
- GWT ( Google Web Toolkit - Ajax )
It is interesting to see a GWT application that looks like a YUI based component set.

This is awesome. Great use of AJAX : the enhance usability. Nice to see the community making some useful AJAX applications instead of more fading/morphing/moving Wheels.
Awesome ?? You are joking ? “Document Management System” …. hmmm ….. where ? In tree on left, or, may be, in two properties - “name” and “parent” (obviously derived from tree model) ?
OH ! IT’S AJAX BASED !!! Sorry ….
P.S. Every joke have part of joke ;)
They should focus on putting a web 2.0 face on nuxeo which is much farther along with the same technologies, and has more features currently than the roadmap for OpenKM. Another parallel stream, what a waste.
Nuxeo seems to be based on Zope application server, and we need a Java bases DMS solution.
Sorry, Nuexeo is Java based. I was confusing with CPS :)
This is the first stage in our roadmap. In future version we will address several important milestones.
This is awesome, I still can’t belive it! Keep it up guys.
