I already know all the necessary web technologies but there's always an overhead when learning how to develop on a new platform. I guess in my mind that time is better spent on the more popular (iPhone) and/or platforms more likely to succeed (Android).

I would love to enter, but.. we don't have Palm Pre's in the Netherlands. Testing on the desktop does not provide the same experiance as the real thing. :(

So I feel your pain Joeri

I love the webos concept, and would love to buy a palm pre and make apps for it, even without the prizes, but I can't, because I live in belgium and the pre is completely and utterly unavailable here. Not because of any technical issues, but just because they won't sell me one. Meh.

The irony is that I _can_ develop apps for it, because the developer portal is a web app and therefore global, but I just can't run those apps on an actual device.

The webOS platform really is amazing, I've got to say. It's a damn shame their market share is so low -- especially with the Project Ares online IDE, it's almost stupidly easy to make webOS apps.

This is great news. The webOS platform seems to maturing nicely. I have already flirted with the SDK previously but have been frustrated by the lack of some of the newer webkit extensions and CSS 3 properties being absent from the framework. Whilst this release doesn't seem to address those specific issues (and granted they are my issues really) the PDK sounds very exciting and is making it seem like an increasingly attractive proposition to develop for. I may just have to re-download the SDK and see if I'm any more convinced. All this aside I really do hope that the platform continues to succeed - it certainly deserves it.

I tried to sign up for the developer program but it tells me:

* Invalid address information. Please check your address information and retry (460).

I added all the useful things for a UK address. 460 doesn't tell me much :)
