Just incase anybody is still coming through here. The demo is offline at the moment, I've currently been going through a server change and I have not gotten around to getting it back online yet.

We think there will be a huge market for GUI interfaces such as this that call upon AJAX and other stylish techniques and libraries in a quest to simplify an otherwise tedious task will do extremely well, as are we certain that you will too Dougal.

We're really glad that AJAXian picked-up on this story, good job all round.

I agree that this effort will be a welcome relief to their current interface. They haven't even tried to make it current from the looks of things. Even just navigating into a table to make a change to a column takes ages. Ajaxian methods would speed it up immensely and make it more like an application.

Fingers crossed for you Dougal!

If you can iron out the bugs and make cross-browser compat, it should be a very useful tool indeed. Good luck!

There is currently problems with the mySQL server.

Thanks for checking up on it, I've contacted my host to fix it.

Unfortunately being a student I had to go for one of the cheapest hosts I could find.

If you are curious about testing the UI the testing controls will still all work. For a quick example click the 'add 3 fixed tables' and you will see most of the functionality. creating joins by dragging rows etc.

Just to add a note about the requirements.

It uses canvas at the moment so only will work on supporting browsers.

There are a number of known issues that i'm working on too. This is my first 'real' use of JavaScript and I feel I learned allot. So i hope to do many fixes and upgrades over the summer and hopefully it will be useful to the phpMyAdmin team.

Thanks for the post :)
