ProtoRPG: Role Playing with Prototype
Sometimes you want Monday to be a Friday, so we have ProtoRPG, a role playing game written by Pierre Chassaing in JavaScript using Prototype and Script.aculo.us.
Walk around, add to your inventory, and feel like you are playing your first RPG many moons ago, on a Friday.

This is a sample chapter from my book Practical Ajax Projects with Java Technology. It’s in the same mold as this game, but perhaps a little more fully fleshed-out (i.e., includes a combat system, spell casting, character interactions, and a larger, more intricate world to explore (plus an overall goal). Granted, it doesn’t use any libraries, it’s “naked” Ajax and Java on the server-side, but it’s still interesting I think.
