Scripteka.com - The Prototype extensions repository
Hot on the heels of the triple-threat Prototype news blast from yesterday comes more big news. Juriy Zaytsev & Maxim Chernyak officially launched Scripteka.com, the Prototype extensions repository and library. The intention is to provide a central place to organize plugins for the Prototype community.
With Scripteka you can:
- View an extensive library of useful (or useless) prototype based extensions
- Rate and use rating to find the coolest scripts out there
- Submit your own creations and get community feedback
- Subscribe to the newest additions to the library
From my discussion with Juriy over IM, he was extremely excited about all of the new Prototype news and felt this was a natural extension to the library:
This is what prototype community have been waiting for for a long time, to have all scripts in one place
The site also features a list of the latest submissions as well as the most popular extensions on the site.

Great news for the the Prototype community, it needed something like this. I’m looking forward to seeing everyones extensions. Thanks for making this possible Juriy.
is there a reason why the scripteka page requires http authentication?
Sure would be nice if that site worked under IE6… doh!
Die IE6, Die!
I love it! Already found a couple that I can use immediately. Bookmarked.
I like that fact that it randomizes a widget every time I go to the site. That’s a nice effect. But it SHOULD NOT give me a randomized widget when I specify one in the url. For example, I just tried to give a buddy a link to http://scripteka.com/#6 and when he clicked the link it randomized and instead gave him http://scripteka.com/#25. That makes it kinda hard to share the links.
Guys, thanks for a positive feedback.
I just want to say a big thanks to mx_ who has been spending countless hours hacking drupal on the back-end. Without his help this would have never happened.
We also know about the issue with IE6 rendering and are working to eliminate all the glitches. The reason why some things might be a little buggy is because we really wanted to push it together with prototype 1.6 final announcement. This is initial release and future versions will definitely be more feature complete.
Great Job. But I will be wonderful if there is more advanced search :)
Good work! kangax did you think about something like a version tracking for the single components? would be great to have something like this for we development!
It is good to have a community like this for Prototype fans.
Grats Juriy. Really nice work for the community.
We removed hashes (back button support) since they seemed to make del.icio.us go crazy. Also there’s now a permalink for each script and rating system is more precise.
Enjoy!
Finally, one place where everything built on prototype can be found! Theres already pleanty of projects on there i didn’t know about! There is pleanty of room for expansion for the Scripteka site too.
Hi,
What about a similar one for jQuery?
Hi everyone,
Curious if we’ll start seeing other adequate technology promoting sites start to use Drupal as well because it’s so good. I wish that Drupal would be compatible at installation time with more than one JavaScript framework.
