Tasks added to Google Calendar by Milkers
The Remember the Milk folks have added task management to Google Calendar (something many wish Google had added themselves).
We know that many of you are managing your tasks with Remember The Milk and your events with Google Calendar, and we thought it would be very cool if we could bring the two together. This new feature adds a small task icon to the top of each day in Google Calendar — click on the icon to:
- Review your tasks for the day
- Add new tasks and edit existing ones
- Easily complete and postpone tasks
- Review your overdue tasks
- Optionally show tasks with no due date
- See where your tasks are located on a map (Google Maps integration)
This is really interesting. An outside group was able to add an important feature that we can not all use in a Google app itself.

…I think there’s an important typo in the post, Dion. You said “An outside group was able to add an important feature that we can not all use in a Google app itself”… shouldn’t it be “…we can NOW all use…” :)
Anyway, great post. I’m downloading the plugin now.

…I assume Google opened up an API for the calendar… anyone know where the documentation for their Calendar API is? Would be cool to have the ability to likewise develop a Calendar widget. This is very slick.

Gotta love RememberTheMilk, it’s one of the cleanest and handiest utilities out on the Web ^^
The features are really nice:
- Shortcut keys
- Bookmarklet
- Tagging
It just feels like a desktop app.
Not to be a hater…but I don’t like the interface for Rememberthemilk…..It’s not the look, but the feel that doesn’t seem quite right. But anyways, I am slightly disappointed with the plugin. I currently use all day events as tasks in Google Calendar and that does suck (can’t complete, can’t postpone, etc). But, I can see the tasks clearly in my agenda and calendar view. With this plugin, I just see check marks everyday. I don’t see whether I have tasks till I click on the check marks.
My excitement is all gone now….Just have to keep on waiting for the real thing from Google…….
supposedly in the Google API, you can add directly to the Calendar. It doesn’t seem RememberTheMilk got there yet, but perhaps they will.
One thing I don’t like about the RTM app… why no dropdown for the calendar or the time? Have they not seem the Dojo Toolkit time and date picker widgets??? ;)

J - You could create different calendars for “Completed” and “Postponed” that you can move those events to. That way you can simulate that functionality.
