Vayama: Visual Web 2.0 Travel

Category: Showcase

Vayama is a new Travel 2.0 site that has an Ajax UI. Vayama itself has a focus on international travel for U.S. travelers.

To help out, you get visual clues on your itinerary. Maybe this is because they know that the US has some… erm…. issues with geography? :)

The Ajax (DWR and more) and Flex driven interface allows you to choose and see multiple flight routes on the map, choose seats via a 3D seat view, and city maps to help you get around.

it’s so slow to load….. and any time you change a menu value, it perform a submit! (no Ajax request)

yes, initial load time is huge! wonder why is that?

Since a few weeks there is a Germany based startup online dealing with travel search called Travel IQ. They have a Prototype based Ajax UI with many innovative features. It includes by now only flight and hotel search. They are definitly worth a look.

And the load time is not as long as at Vayama. :)

that’s actually pretty nice, though it did take a bit to load in the beginning.

I used it to buy a ticket recently. I have to say I was impressed by the interface.
