I still haven’t received my emailed results. I don’t like the business of getting the results emailed. I much prefer the media conversion service at http://www.media-convert.com/ HERE, the number of formats they handle is unbelievable, e.g. PDF -> Flash, or m4a -> mp3. You get the results right there, zipped if you want them. They’re soon to add OCR, I don’t know anyone who gives that away for free.

Wowww… I tested some pdf => doc conversion, as well as others, and it works really well !

I’ve never seen such a good conversion tool.

What’s being used for the upload bar? I’m doing something similar right now and would be interested to try it out if it’s public.

Hi Tom; the PDF file could have been just an internal image, in which case there is no text to work with. PDF files can either directly capture the image that would have been sent to a printer (thats the Print to PDF option in some apps), in which case it is just an image. You usually need a program like Adobe Acrobat or an app that supports PDF in a deeper way to have it be full text.

It converted a PDF to editable text for me, although it a slightly haphazard way. I guess it depends on how the PDF is encoded.

It’s not what it’s cracked up to be.
I tested with a PDF to Word conversion.
They changed the PDF to a TIFF! and put the TIFF into a Word file.
I and most people would expect an *editable* formatted Word file to be the conversion result.
So…no, not quite there yet.
